.Gaden Ngari Buddhist Monks

 


 


Ven Geshe Kunchok Tenzin


Venerable Geshe Kunchok Tenzin was born in 1960 in the hills of Darjeeling in North Eastern part of India. He became a monk in Ganden Shartse Monastery in the year 1972 at the age of 12 and since then has been involved in intense study in Buddhist Philosophy.

 

To begin with he studied his formal studies of Dialects, the Prajaparmita and Madhyamika Philosophy, Abidharma and Vinaya [ Ethics] and gained enormous knowledge in these fields.

 

He was also blessed with Lamrim and Tantric teaching from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche [junior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.], Kyabje Ling Rinpoche [senior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.] and many great  scholars from Gelukpa sect. Moreover he has also been privileged with Agama- Reading transmission and thus has been authorized to read, contemplate and meditate on that particular cycle of teaching.

 

With this he even acquired great expertise in performing religious rituals and rituals chanting and has been reportedly nominated for the candidates for the honored rank for the Gaden Shartse Choir. With his profound knowledge in the fields mentioned above he was honored wit the first rank Geshe Lharampa Degree in the year 1996 [ which is equivalent to PhD in Buddhist philosophy], followed by a Masters degree in Tantric at Gyuto Tantric College the next year in Dharamsala.

 

Under the amp ices of the Tibetan Government in Exile, he has traveled extensively in many European countries like The Great Britain, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Scotland, Ireland and to The United States of America promoting inter-religious dialogues between Christianity and Buddhism and healing different sick people all around the world with great success. He served as the Director of Ganden Shartse Library for many years and now is honored with the rank of the Education Director of Ganden Shartse University. He is also an active member of Orient Foundation

 


 

Ven Geshe Lobsang Jigmed  

Ven Geshe Lobsang Jigmed was born in 1960 in the hills of Himachal Pradesh in the northern part of India. He joined Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in the year 1979 and became a monk the next year. He studied there for six years till 1985 and then in the year 1983 he accepted the fully ordained monk vows from His Holiness the

14th Dalai Lama

.

Finally in the year 1985 he joined Ganden Shartse Monastery and acquired expertise in Prajnaparmita and Madhyamika Philosophy, Abidharma and Vinaya [Ethics] and gained enormous knowledge in these fields. He was also privileged with the Lamrim Teaching from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche [junior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.], Kyabje Ling Rinpoche [senior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.] and many great  scholars from Gelukpa sect.

 

Then he excelled in all his studies and finally in the year 2000 after completing all his studies gained the honored degree of Geshe Lharampa Degree which is equivalent to PhD in Buddhist Philosophy and got his Masters Degree in Tantric from Gyuto Monastery in Dharamsala in the year 2001. At present he is working as a lecturer in Ganden Shartse University and he is also an active member of Gashar Himalayan Buddhist Association.

 


 

Geshe Thupten Tendar

Ven Geshe Thupten Tendar was born on 26th January 1962 in the Spiti Valley among the hills of Himachal Pradesh of India. He became a monk at an early age in Spiti Valley. And finally in the year 1980 he descended down to Ganden Shartse Monastery to continue his studies in Buddhist philosophy.

 

He studied Buddhist courses ranging from collected topics, Logic and Reasoning, Cognitive Science, Transcendental Wisdom and Madhyamaka or the Middle way philosophy as well as the Unique Chants, Tantric rites ritual for many years. He was also blessed with Lamrim teachings from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche junior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.], Kyabje Ling Rinpoche [senior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.] and many great scholars from Gelukpa sect. He took great interest in Tantric rites and studied intense Tantric rites in Dharamsala for many years.

 

He was also honored as the Director of the Ganden Shartse temple in Dharamsala for 3 years in 1996. During that period he helped many poor people and healed many sick people with great success. With his profound knowledge in Tantric rites Ven Thupten Tendar has been very effective in healing sickness and is very popular among the people of Dharamsala. He was also the head of the organizer for Kalachakra Initiation held in Spiti Valley in the year 2000. At present he is the Abbot of the Dhakkar Monastery in Himachal Pradesh.

 



Ven Jampa Lobzang Negi
       

Ven Jampa Lobzang was born in 1975 in the hills of Himachal Pradesh in northern part of India. He entered the Ganden Shartse Monastery in the year 1985 at the age of 10 and accepted the Monastic vows under the blessing of His Holiness Kyabje Lati Rinpoche and started his Monastic studies at an early age.

 

He started his studies with Buddhist courses ranging from collected topics like, Logic and Reasoning, Cognitive Science, Transcendental Wisdom and Madhyamika or the Middle way Philosophy, as well as the unique Chants, Tantric rites and rituals for many years. Above all he emphasized his studies on Tantric rites and rituals and did intense study in it for 16 long years in Dharamsala. He has also proved himself effective in healing sickness in Dharamsala and helped many poor people in Dharamsala.

 

He was also blessed with Lamrim teaching from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and His Holiness Kyabje Lati Rinpoche.

 

Ven Jampa Lobzang has also traveled to Asian countries like Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong kong to promote the awareness of Buddhism and has even acted as an important figure in performing various religious rituals and intense chanting for a long time.

 



Ven Lobsang Tandup

Ven Lobsang Tandup was born in 1977 in Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh in the northern part of India. He became a monk in Dhakkar Monastery in Spiti Valley at an early age of 10 in 1987 and studied Buddhist scripts in the Monastery for many years. And finally he joined Ganden Shartse Monastery in the year 1995 and continued his studies in Buddhist philosophy.

 

He studied Prajnaparmita for many years and is still consistent about studying the traditional studies of the monastery which is required to continue for higher studies in the field of Buddhist Philosophy. He also practiced in making Sand Mandala for many years and is also good in performing The Black Hat dance.

 


 

Ven Tenzin Dorje 

Ven Tenzin Dorje was born in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh in northern part of India. He entered the Ganden Monastic College in the year 1985 and hence studied all the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, including the five great volumes, the uncommon chants, rites and rituals of the Monastery for 17 long years.

 

He also studied Buddhist courses ranging from collected topics like, Logic and Reasoning, Cognitive Science, Transcendental Wisdom and Madhyamika or the Middle way Philosophy. Besides he received numerous secret teachings like Oral Transmission and Empowerment from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Ganden Throne holder, Sharpa Choeje and Jhangpa Choje, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche [junior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.], Abbot and ex Abbots of this Monastery.

 

Ven Tenzin Dorje traveled to Asian countries like Taiwan to promote religious dialogues and to perform different Buddhist rituals and Chantings in which he has excelled. Moreover, he sincerely served the Monastery as a member of the working committee for many years and at present he is leading the team to organize the Gelukpa Monlam Chenmo which is the highest teaching in Gepukpa sect.

 

We pray that he succeeds in all the benevolent work he undertakes, and brings about immense benefit to the Dharma and innumerable sentient beings.

 


 

Ven Thuktan Tashi

Ven Thuktan Tashi was born on the 25th of March 1974 in the hills of Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh in northern part of India. He entered the Monastic College of Gaden Shartse in the year 1985 and studied Buddhist courses ranging from collected topics, Logic and Reasoning, Cognitive Science, Transcendental Wisdom and Madhyamika or the Middle way Philosophy as well as the unique Chants, Tantric rites and rituals for 16 years.

 

He gained expertise in building the great Mandala after practicing it for many years. Besides he received numerous secret teachings, Oral Transmission and Empowerment from His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Ganden Throne holder, Sharpa Choeje and Jhangpa Choje, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche [junior tutor for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.], Kyabje Zemey Rinpoche, Abbot and ex Abbots of this Monastery and many other Doctrine Holders of Gelukpa sect.

 

Ven Thuktan Tashi has also traveled extensively to many Asian countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore in 1997 and stayed for many months in-order to promote religious awareness and further traveled to many European countries like Italy and Austria to promote many religious awareness with great success. He also stayed in Taiwan for long and acted as an important member in the administration of the Ganden Shartse Temple in Taiwan.
